Cache is a collectibles catalog and collection companion. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this short and clear.

What this covers

This policy applies to the Cache website, apps, and related services. Features may grow over time. When we add something that meaningfully changes how we handle personal data, we will update this page.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Cache, we may collect:

  • Account information — such as email address and basic profile details when you create an account.
  • Collection data — items you save, quantities, notes, want lists, and similar details. Collection data stays on your device by default. If you turn on cloud sync features (when available), we store and sync that data to provide the service.
  • Scan and search inputs — photos or images you submit for item recognition, plus search queries and filters you use on the website or in the apps.
  • Usage and device data — things like app version, device type, approximate region, crash logs, and how features are used, so we can keep Cache reliable and secure.
  • Website data — standard web logs and similar technical data when you browse the public site.
  • Payments — if you subscribe or buy add-ons, payment providers process your payment details. We receive billing status and entitlements, not your full card number.
  • Optional contributions — if you later submit photos, corrections, or other content for the catalog or model improvement, we process what you choose to send.
  • Social and sharing data — if social features are available and you use them, things like public profile details, friends or follows, and collections or items you choose to share (plus comments or similar interactions where offered).
  • Ad-related technical data — on ad-supported experiences (for example the free tier), limited technical signals used to show and measure ads, such as device or advertising identifiers, IP address, and approximate region. We do not send your collection contents to ad partners.

How we use information

We use this information to:

  • Provide catalog search, item details, price information, scanning, and collection tools
  • Operate accounts, sync, backups, and support
  • Improve recognition quality, search relevance, reliability, and security
  • Power optional social features you turn on or use (for example sharing a collection with friends)
  • Show ads on free or otherwise ad-supported experiences
  • Enforce our Terms of Service, prevent abuse, and protect the service
  • Communicate about the service (for example account, security, or product notices)
  • Meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

When we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us run Cache (hosting, auth, analytics, payments, email)
  • Partners needed for a feature you use (for example affiliate purchase links), in limited ways
  • Advertising partners that help deliver ads on ad-supported experiences — they may receive limited technical data like the examples above, not your collection details
  • Other users, when you choose to make something public or share it through social features
  • Authorities when required by law, or to protect Cache, our users, or others
  • A buyer or successor if Cache is involved in a merger, sale, or similar transaction

We ask providers to use personal data only to perform services for us.

Local-first and retention

Core collection management is designed to work on your device. Cloud copies exist when you use optional cloud features. We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including backups, security, dispute handling, and legal requirements. Scan images used for recognition may be processed briefly and discarded, or retained longer when you contribute them for catalog or training use and we tell you that at the time.

Your choices

  • You can export your collection data (once that feature is available).
  • You can request account and personal data deletion through the Cache app or our Delete Account page.
  • You can turn off optional cloud features when offered, subject to plan limits and grace periods.
  • You control what you share socially — private by default where we offer that choice; unshare or delete shared content when the feature allows.
  • Paid plans are ad-free when offered. You can also use device or platform controls (for example limit ad tracking) where available.

Children

Cache is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes

We may update this policy as Cache grows. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
